Extensive Damage Closes Waverley Rsl Club Areas After Glen Waverley Kitchen Fire

The Glen Waverley RSL suffered extensive damage in both the gaming area and the members areas, prompting closure of those sections while staff and emergency crews secure the building. Crews worked with club representatives to gain access to encased memorabilia as a priority; the majority of the memorabilia remained intact though some items may have smoke damage.
Fire Rescue Victoria and CFA Firefighters Spent Two Hours Containing the Blaze
Fire Rescue Victoria responded to the Coleman Parade incident at 7: 08 a. m. and firefighters arrived on scene three minutes later. Approximately 60 firefighters from Fire Rescue Victoria and the Country Fire Authority were on site, and their efforts took approximately two hours to bring the fire under control.
Kitchen Fire on Coleman Parade Damaged 20m x 30m Building and Roof Space
Crews found a 20m x 30m building involved in fire with the blaze impacting the roof space; the fire is believed to have originated in the kitchen. Firefighters conducted an external attack because of concerns about the structural integrity of the property. Victoria Police were on scene to assist and a community warning was issued for smoke in the area.
There were no occupants in the building at the time of the incident, and Fire Rescue Victoria firefighters will remain on scene to monitor for hotspots and ensure the fire does not reignite. If monitoring confirms no rekindle, access to the building could be reassessed within hours.
