The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed defenseman vincent borgesi to a two-year, entry-level contract beginning in the 2026-27 season. He will join the AHL Toronto Marlies for the remainder of the 2025-26 season on an amateur tryout, making his professional debut.

The two-year contract officially begins in 2026-27; borgesi will report to the Marlies for the balance of the current season on an amateur tryout agreement. That move brings the 22-year-old into the Maple Leafs organization immediately while his NHL-capable contract takes effect next season.
College And Junior Track Record
At Northeastern University, vincent borgesi served as team captain and produced 20 points (five goals, 15 assists) and 29 penalty minutes in 36 games during the 2025-26 season. He was named a nominee for the 2026 Hobey Baker Award. Across 135 career NCAA games, he compiled 80 points (16 goals, 64 assists) and 79 penalty minutes.
Before college, Borgesi spent two seasons with the Tri-City Storm in the USHL, posting 50 points (seven goals, 43 assists) in 106 regular-season games and adding four assists in eight playoff contests. He was also named to the United States Collegiate Selects roster for the 2025 Spengler Cup, where he served as captain and recorded one assist in four games.
Contract Compensation And Role Expectations
The deal is described as an entry-level contract. Financial terms include a cap hit of $987, 500. The NHL salary is listed at $877, 500 for the first season with a $97, 500 signing bonus; those figures rise to $900, 000 and a $100, 000 signing bonus for 2027-28. The contract carries a minor-league salary of $85, 000 for each season.
With Borgesi joining the organization now, he will have the opportunity to acclimate at the AHL level before his NHL contract begins in 2026-27. The Maple Leafs will monitor his transition to the professional game while he develops within their minor-league system.
