It’s a lot of pressure. ”
She encouraged those considering treatment to talk through difficult questions in advance. “Before you set off on this journey — is your relationship strong enough to survive a rollercoaster of emotions? And if it turns out that it’s not going to work out the way you envisage, are you happy together just on your own?” Clifford said the conversation can “bring you closer together, or you become so stressed with each other, ” making the partner’s perspective central to each decision.

Clifford met her partner Mark in 2017 at the age of 35, and the pair have pursued IVF both at home and abroad. She is 45 and has spoken about learning she had stage-three silent endometriosis after a specialist confirmed suspicions that first arose during acupuncture. Despite multiple rounds, the couple have not yet become pregnant.
Yet, she has consistently articulated a balanced outlook on outcomes. “If it works out that we have a family, great, but if it doesn’t, then we will be very happy with our life as well… it took a while for us to get to that place of being OK with whatever life brings, but we are there now. ” Clifford emphasized that reaching this mindset required time and work together.

Beyond her fertility journey, Clifford recently marked the 10th anniversary of her daytime music show on RTÉ 2FM, a notable run on a youth-focused station. She has spoken about being proud to hold that slot as a female broadcaster and about navigating a market she described as precarious. On her approach to listeners’ stories, she said, “Authenticity is the most important thing. If you are authentic, that’s where the connectivity comes. ”
She remains mindful of boundaries away from the studio, saying she is very conscious about how much she posts online. The rte broadcaster has often highlighted the value of connection through honest conversation while keeping parts of her personal life off social media, a balance she maintains as she and Mark manage work, treatment decisions, and day-to-day life.
