Optus Stadium Soccer Game Set to Trigger CBD Traffic Frenzy

Motorists are being warned of disturbances to usual routes on Tuesday night as the Women’s Asian Cup kicks off at Optus Stadium. The Matildas are set to take on China with kickoff at 6: 00 pm ET and gates opening at 4: 30 pm ET.

Traffic and Road Warnings Around Optus Stadium

Main Roads WA told locals to expect heavy foot traffic and frequently stopping vehicles in the area and warned of tow-away zones. Fans driving to the precinct are advised to check signs before parking within the area to avoid being towed. Rideshare services will be available on Sailani Avenue in East Perth to help move crowds but delays and congestion on surrounding streets are likely.

Match Schedule and Crowd Expectations

The match is scheduled as a Tuesday night semi-final with gates opening at 4: 30 pm ET ahead of the 6: 00 pm ET kickoff. A strong crowd is expected for Tuesday night’s semi-final and for the Matildas’ game on Friday night at HBF Park. Organisers anticipate a sea of Matildas green and gold fans around the stadium precinct, which is likely to amplify pedestrian and vehicle congestion across the central business district.

Sam Kerr Thanks Fans Ahead Of The Match

Sam Kerr penned a letter to Matilda’s fans on Monday, thanking them for their support over the tournament. “Your backing throughout this tournament, and over the past few years, has been unbelievable. We feel it everywhere we go, ” Kerr said. “For me personally, playing in Perth in front of my family, friends and our home crowd couldn’t feel more special. We need all of you behind us again, just as you’ve been so many times over the years. This is our moment!”

With a large turnout expected, commuters and residents are being urged to plan extra travel time, follow parking signage, and use designated rideshare zones where possible to reduce disruption in and around the stadium precinct.
