The appearance comes more than two weeks after Chet Hanks said he was stranded in South America following travel that began in Puerto Rico. He described taking a detour to Colombia and then encountering problems because he had traveled with a Greek passport as a dual citizen, explaining: “I’m traveling with my Greek passport because I’m a dual citizen. “
Hanks said he did not bring his American passport because it was going to expire and that “sometimes they don’t let you in the country, even if it hasn’t expired, but it’s about to expire. ” At the airport, he said, him that if he was using a foreign passport he needed a green card to return to the United States.
