The Ford is the world’s largest aircraft carrier currently deployed for that campaign, the Navy said. The service also noted the carrier remains fully operational after the laundry incident.
Earlier this year the ship had completed a months-long mission in the Caribbean. That mission culminated with a January operation to seize Venezuela’s leader Nicolas Maduro, the Navy said, before the carrier was ordered to the Middle East.
