Kuwait Air Defences Intercept Missiles and Drones; Two Officers Killed

Kuwait’s military said its air defence systems intercepted more missiles and drones, adding that fuel tanks at Kuwait’s international airport were targeted in a drone attack and a resulting fire was brought under control with no “significant injuries”. A separate statement from Kuwait’s Interior Ministry said two of its officers were killed while performing duties; the ministry did not provide details on the circumstances of their deaths.

Regional context in the statements noted heavy use of drones in the war against the US and Israel, which is in its ninth day, and the Bahraini ministry said sirens were activated in the Muharraq area in the morning after fragments and debris fell near a university building and caused damage.

Gulf desalination capacity figures cited in the statements said there are approximately 400 plants in the Gulf states, which produce about 40 percent of the world’s desalinated water; Bahrain is estimated to generate the majority of its drinking water from such plants. The spread of strikes on water and fuel infrastructure drew explicit references to damage and broader material impacts in official posts and statements.

No timetable for repairs, additional public advisories, or next operational updates was provided in the government statements; officials did not announce a date or time for further briefings.
