shake shack calgary will open a new restaurant on the upper level of CF Chinook Centre across from the dining hall on Macleod Trail SW,, marking its first Canadian location outside Ontario with an opening planned for sometime this spring.

Shake Shack Calgary Location And Opening Plans

The new Shack will occupy an upper-level site at CF Chinook Centre. There is no official opening date yet, only a company statement that the restaurant will arrive sometime this spring. This location will be the brand’s first spot in Western Canada and the chain’s first restaurant outside Ontario, which currently has seven locations.

Menu, Local Sourcing And A Calgary Mural

The Calgary Shack will offer the chain’s signature items with a focus on Canadian-sourced ingredients. The ShackBurger will be made with 100 percent Alberta Angus beef raised without antibiotics and served fresh, never frozen. The Chicken Shack will feature whole white-meat Canadian chicken raised cage-free and without antibiotics. The menu will also include classic crinkle-cut fries, hand-spun shakes made with Canadian dairy, and applewood smoked bacon sourced from local farms.

Calgary-based artist Irene Neyman has created an original mural for the Chinook location. Neyman’s work is described as using bright colours, simple shapes and thoughtful detail to celebrate the city’s recognizable landmarks. “The mural is meant to feel playful, welcoming, and connected to Calgary – a space people want to spend time in, ” Neyman said.

Why The Arrival Matters And What Comes Next

Billy Richmond, Business Director at Shake Shack Canada, said Alberta had been on the company’s radar since its Canadian launch in 2024 and expressed excitement about the Calgary opening, noting the brand aims to be a neighbourhood hub that celebrates food and community. The announcement follows a pattern of high interest in American chains opening in Calgary; past debuts have drawn long lines, with customers sometimes waiting hours at new openings.

Shake Shack began as a hot dog cart in New York City’s Madison Square Park in 2001 and opened its first storefront in 2004. The Chinook Centre Shack will include the artist mural and will feature menu items that highlight local Canadian and Alberta ingredients. Further details, including an exact opening date and any Calgary-exclusive menu items, will be released by the company ahead of the spring opening.
