Meg Ryan At Oscars Sparks Focus On Her Limp As She Joins Tribute For Rob Reiner

Meg Ryan will be returning to The Oscars on Sunday, March 15, when she takes part in an In Memoriam tribute to the late Rob Reiner. The appearance comes after public attention on a hip-related limp that was visible at last year’s ceremony.
Meg Ryan To Take Part In In Memoriam For Rob Reiner
The actress is set to join her When Harry Met Sally costar Billy Crystal and other stars from Rob Reiner’s films for a tribute to Reiner, who was killed in December 2025. The 2026 Academy Awards are scheduled for March 15 at 7: 00 pm ET. This will mark Ryan and Crystal’s second consecutive year attending the Oscars together; at the 2025 ceremony they presented the award for Best Picture as part of the 35-year celebration of When Harry Met Sally.
A Limp That Became Part Of Her Work
Ryan’s limp, which was noticeable at the 2025 Oscars, stems from a hip issue she has described as connected to arthritis. She has integrated that real-life condition into her professional work: in an interview with she said the limp was written into the script of her 2023 film What Happens Later because she was limping in real life at the time. The actor also noted that moving had taken a physical toll and produced a “painful twinge, ” though she did not expand on further medical details.
How Ryan Has Addressed Public Speculation
Ryan has long been the subject of public scrutiny about her appearance but has repeatedly pushed back on that focus. She told The Sunday Times in December 2024 that people need to “move on” from speculation about her looks. In a separate conversation with Glamour in November 2023 she said, “I can’t pay attention to it. I just can’t, ” adding that the relentless attention was not worth engaging with and that meanness and hatred are “just so stupid. ” She has not confirmed whether she has had cosmetic work done.
The upcoming tribute will place Ryan back in a high-profile spotlight tied to a recent, widely noted loss in the film community. It is not clear whether she will address her health publicly during the ceremony, but her previous openness about incorporating the limp into a film role and her past presence at the Oscars mean observers are likely to watch closely when she appears for the In Memoriam segment.
