Courtier Immobilier Simon Laberge Faces Complaint After ‘Malade Mental’ Video Targets Mayor

The courtier immobilier simon laberge posted a short social video attacking the mayor of Québec and the proposed tramway, language that has prompted the mayor’s office to lodge a complaint with the agent’s brokerage and prompted the brokerage to demand a public apology.

Courtier Immobilier Simon Laberge Called Out By Mayor’s Office

The mayor’s office described the comments in the video as hateful, defamatory and aggressive and announced it would file a formal complaint with the brokerage. The office said it finds the remarks unacceptable and concerning and intends to send an official letter to the agency in the coming days as a first step. The office also signaled it would consider further action but is not pursuing additional steps at this time.

Agency Demands Apology; Posts Removed, Apology Not Offered

The brokerage dissociated itself from the remarks and asked the agent to remove the contested posts and to offer a public apology. The posts were removed soon after the controversy surfaced, and the brokerage reiterated that the opinions expressed were personal and did not reflect its values. As of 7: 54 pm ET on Friday, 13 March 2026, no public apology had been received from the agent and he had not responded to a request for an interview.

What Was Said And Disputed Claims

In a 45-second clip published on the agent’s professional Facebook, TikTok and Instagram accounts, the agent called the mayor “malade mental” while urging clients to contact his office if they were “tannés” of paying taxes to a person he described that way and if they opposed the tramway passing by their homes. The agent acknowledged uncertainty about whether the tram would be built and called the project unnecessary, while also alleging large-scale tree cutting tied to the tramway.

The video included a specific claim that the tramway would force the removal of up to 20, 000 trees. Municipal teams set a much lower number around 1, 500, a discrepancy highlighted by the mayor’s office as an example of false information in the post.

Activity And Next Steps

The agent has been active on social networks with hundreds of videos and has had multiple collaborations with local radio outlets. The mayor’s office framed the case as an instance where public commentary by a visible personality carries responsibility and said the complaint to the brokerage is intended to draw a line against hateful and defamatory speech in the public space.

Officials expect the brokerage to respond to the official letter; the mayor’s office did not rule out further measures depending on how the brokerage addresses the matter.
