Mya Babbitt scored 27 points as the kent State Flashes defeated the Western Michigan Broncos 67-60 on senior night at the M. A. C. Center. Saturday at 8: 12 p. m. ET — the win capped a regular season that leaves the Flashes 15-15 overall and 9-9 in Mid-American Conference play, a. 500 finish that head coach Todd Starkey highlighted.

Dionna Gray’s extra pass set up a clutch three from Mya Babbitt that put Kent State up by six with under five minutes left in the opening period, and Babbitt’s continued perimeter success helped maintain a lead the team never relinquished.
Kent State Honors Seniors at M. A. C. Center
Saturday’s senior day recognized graduate guard Bianca Juzzo, senior forward Tatiana Thomas, senior guard Joy Bergstrom and senior guard Dionna Gray for their contributions. “I came here last year, ” Bergstrom said of being named an honorary starter. Coach Todd Starkey said, “These seniors have been an unbelievable class, ” and emphasized the group’s growth from separate recruits to longtime teammates.
Flashes’ Defense, Klatt and Campanelli Shift Momentum
Kent State’s defense swung the game in the second quarter, holding Western Michigan to nine points in that period and building a 36-26 halftime lead. The Flashes forced a shot clock violation early in the second quarter and totaled only six turnovers in the half compared with the Broncos’ 12. Sophomore forward Emory Klatt drew an and-one foul that sent the Flashes to the line, and freshman guard Anna Campanelli hit a baseline three in the third to extend the lead to 19.
After a strong third quarter that left Kent State up 50-36, the Flashes controlled the fourth with disciplined fouling and a fast-break layup from Tatiana Thomas following a forced turnover at the eight-minute mark. KSU’s combination of interior work and perimeter shooting — including Thomas’s earlier big 3 and Campanelli’s baseline triple — kept the Broncos at bay through the final buzzer.
The victory completes Kent State’s regular season slate at 15-15 overall and 9-9 in Mid-American Conference play, with the team reaching a. 500 record that Starkey noted as a milestone for the roster.
