Separately, a collective calling for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza unveiled a new pin design by Shepard Fairey in the hours before the ceremony. The new badge features a dove carrying a lotus flower with a barbed wire stem and a heart above the flower. The group said the image embodies “hope, resilience and a just peace” and is meant to underscore a message of solidarity and liberation.
Pin History, Red Carpet Context and What Wore Previously
The collective began its campaign two weeks after attacks in October 2023 and its earlier badge has been a frequent presence at awards shows in recent years. Attendees at past ceremonies — including a range of actors, musicians and filmmakers — have been photographed wearing the earlier pin design. Javier Bardem and another performer wore the collective’s badge at the 2025 Emmy Awards.
It was not immediately clear which stars would wear the newly released Shepard Fairey design on the Oscars red carpet. The new badge was distributed ahead of the ceremony with the intention that supporters might choose to display it during the evening.
javier bardem’s onstage statement and the broader pin campaign added to a night in which multiple attendees used the awards platform to display political messages through clothing and accessories.
